Kwei U, of Mill Valley, California, had built model boats and airplanes for 50 years before deciding to build a full-sized boat.
This 1922 17' Old Town canoe was restored by Dave Millikan of Inverness, FL. It is Model HW, Grade CS, Serial No. 67358, and had been delivered to Abraham and Strauss back in 1922. Dave found it in storage in the Adirondacks in 2001.
Dylan Wallace uses this board everyday on the beaches of Nantucket. Since building this one, he and his father have finished 5 more. The board is made out of butternut wood covered with epoxy. It took 100 hours to complete. It is a David Tettledon design, with a length of 9'6".
The Covid summer of 2020 was a time of distress and dislocation for many. For New Yorker Lorne Swarthout it was also an opportunity to build a boat in his friend’s garage/workshop in Southwest Harbor, Maine. The project was a Great Auk 14 from Chesapeake Light Craft.
MINNIE is a modified David Stimson Ocean Pointer launched in July 2014. She was built over a period of 10-years, with many starts and stops due to other commitments. The modifications include stringers and engine beds, a 10.5″ deep keel and a different design for the center console.

Doug Robertson named this canoe BOING for the noise it will make if all the strips come apart. It is a modified Bear Mountain Rob Roy Canoe. The 13' design was shortened to 11' 6". It weighs 26 pounds. Doug used cedar bead and cove strips covered on the outside with 5 oz fiberglass.
