Vince Trtan used a lot of 40-grit sandpaper in the restoration of this Old Town canoe, HW model, hull #150314-7. After sanding off the old canvas, he made new gunwales, keel, seats, and decks. Then he had to replace several ribs and planks.
Rene Burdahl of Innvik, Norway has been busy building boats. Among his recent boats are a 16' canoe. The plans called for cedar strip planking, but Rene used spruce and then glassed the hull inside and out. The seats are oak and gunwales are elm. The yoke and breasthook is cherry.
We have five grandchildren from 14 years down to 7 years so I built a (wee lassie) for each one and had them lettered from a local clasic car sword striper artist (Dr Ru,) they call him around the Detroit area.Took a few years to complete them all.
Richard Goy of Brothers' Boatworks writes, "The boat is constructed of marine plywood and coated with fiberglass cloth and epoxy resin. It is powered by a 70 lb. thrust-modified Minn-Kota electric motor mounted under the rear deck.
This Passagemaker dinghy, one of Chesapeake Light Craft's designs, was built by Mark R. Allen of Reston, Virginia, for Brian White. Intended for use her as a tender for the White family's trawler, the dinghy will see use in Chesapeake Bay.
I spent the Covid-19 Lockdown finishing Nā Mo’opuna (Hawaiian for The Grandchildren), a 9′6″ Nutshell Pram.
At just 39 pounds, this canoe is designed for easy portages in Derek Coleman's home waters of Killarney Park, Ontario. Derek designed an asymmetric hull with an adjustable, removable seat and nicely decorated bow stern decks.
Philip Bolduc spent less than $1000 in the construciton of this Sailfish look-alike. Chosen for its simplicity, he used stitch-and-glue construction with pieces of 1/4" plywood.
