Built during lockdown for my 3-year-old daughter, who helped choose the fabric for skinning. The boat is a Wee Lassie from Dave Gentry, built from plans. Very happy with the outcome!
Jack Lightfoot has been busy. He built a Francis Herreshoff/John Gardner pram, then an Iain Oughtred McGregor canoe (15'8" x 33"), and has now started a Phil Bolger dory. Jack writes the McGregor took him six months to build, and that was without using any power tools.
Rod Wright’s version of the Barto 16′ melonseed (WB plan#120). She’s built of spanish cedar, sipo, ash and white oak; and sports a sail sewn 13from a Sailrite kit.
Paul Wagstaff's catboat was two decades in the designing and building. He was attracted to catboats because of their stability and he wanted a boat that could be built in his garage, trailered easily, and could be single-handed.
Flavio Simon had help from his wife, Marilia, and friends, Andy Jordan and AJ LeBlanc, in the construction of this 15'7" Whisp Skiff, TUPAN. Named after a Brazilian deity, TUPAN took nearly 200 hours of Flavio's time for construction.
Wolfram Kunkel built this sloop from his own design in 2018. He used wood left over from the construction of the Geltendorf Bridge in Bavaria.
Using Phil Bolger's "Sweet Pea" design for inspiration, Allen Head designed this boat for his 9-year-old daughter, Casey. With an overall length of 9', CASEY'S BOAT is constructed from 6mm Meranti plywood. Casey did much of the painting.
CHIME (it’s a little dinghy) is a Chesapeake Light Craft Passagemaker Dinghy. The kit was a family gift, and building help came from all of our children and kids, and Captain Hook (our dog, who endured many hours on the garage floor watching epoxy dry).
Mike Hughes had hoped to build a Columbia dinghy for himself but, "as life, family, and business crowded in I never got past the stage of milling and seasoning the keel, and laying in the New Zealand kauri." Some years late, Mark Jack contacted Mike about building a Columbia for him.
