This is a picture of a new launching... well a new play boat for the Learning center in Duncan BC.
1942 Halvorsen Cruiser. Purchased in Sydney, trucked to Hobart and spent 2.5 years out of the water, undercover rebuilding. Cabin sides and windscreen had been damaged by rot. Double diagonal oregan planking on the hull which when stripped back was in excellent condition.
Off Center Harbor Skiff. White pine on white oak frames.
Recently completed Night Heron high deck strip-built from a CLC Kit.This is a modified high-deck with the deck re-drawn to preserve all the knee height of the high deck but substantially flattening out the deck center-line... in a style inspired by Nick’s Petrel.
Cosine Wherry. John Hartsock designed it, Bob and Erica Pickett promoted it, J. D. Brown wrote the book (Rip, Strip, and Row).
This is my new canoe. It is a custom design from Ashes Still Water Boats — the model named Quick. It is designed to be somewhere between solo canoe and sea kayak. Hull is made from cedar with spruce light strips, gunnels are from ash. Lenght 17′ width 26″. Weight 18kg (40Lbs)

MALUHIA means safety, serenity, and peace in Hawaiian. She is a John Gardner designed Carolina Dory, 19′8″ x 8′6″. Russell Durler of Layton, Utah built her using Douglas fir and white oak, and launched her in July 2000.
