Keith Telfer writes "A group of seven volunteers from Wellspring Cancer Support Center, both cancer patients and caregivers, built this canoe in ten weeks. We built it for a charity auction to raise money for the Center.
Despite working at times “at a glacial pace” for two years, Stirling Cummings of Chapel Hill, North Carolina, finshed and launched his 18′ Night Heron kayak on a cold windy day in February 2012 on Jordan Lake, near Chapel Hill.
In June 2012, Brooklin Boat Yard of Brooklin, Maine, launched LARK, a 47′6″ daysailer designed at the the yard. LARK has a cold-molded hull built from wood, epoxy, and carbon fiber. She has long overhangs fore and aft, draws 7′6″, and displaces 10,800 lbs.
Wayne Brown spent two years building this 12′6″ catboat designed by William Garden. DON GATO is a strip-planked Tom Cat design launched at Ghost Lake, Wisconsin last July. Wayne says she sails nicely with three people aboard, trails beautifully, and takes about an hour to rig and unrig.
“That’s not a boat, it’s a museum piece. It’s too beautiful to put in the water.”
Bear Mountain Boat Shop of Peterborough Ontario provided the plans for this 16' Chestnut Prospector Canoe built by Brian Maiorano of Missoula, Montana. He named her MAKAI, which is Hawaiian for "toward the ocean".
My adventure started on May 4th at CLC in Annapolis, MD. I thoroughly enjoyed the class. It’s amazing what was completed in a week. 12 weeks later.....The Christening took place on August 3th on the Manasquan River. Loved it!!!

Emili Castillo of Barcelona, Spain, recently launched this Penobscot 14 on the Fluvia River near his home. He named the boat SIBERIANA in honor of his son, who was born in Siberia, Russia, and his wife and daughter, who are both named Anna.
