The Borealis 45 “Kia Kaha” is a light weight performance cruising yacht, intended for anything from leisurely coastal sailing, to long distance ocean passages.
Using just materials from his local home improvement store, Robert B. Holt built this flat-bottomed, double-ended rowing boat to his own design. He used 5/16" tongue and groove western cedar paneling for the planking, and 1x3 strips for the frames and floors.
Fishing kayak design by Nick Schade combines speed and stability well suited for hot weather fishing. Thanks to the folks at Chesapeake Light Craft for their great kit.
Flavio Simon had help from his wife, Marilia, and friends, Andy Jordan and AJ LeBlanc, in the construction of this 15'7" Whisp Skiff, TUPAN. Named after a Brazilian deity, TUPAN took nearly 200 hours of Flavio's time for construction.
Designer Iain Oughtred’s first design, a whitehall-like skiff with two rowing stations. She is 11′9″ long and 3′11″ wide and light enough to car-top. Glued lapstrake with meranti plywood planking, mahogany transom, Douglas fir backbone, thwarts and gunwales, and teak floorboards and sternsheets.
BULLFROG is a Sam Devlin Godzilla 22′ tug boat design built by Denman Marine Tasmania, Australia. She was constructed from Lloyd’s certified Okoume plywood, fibregalss and WEST System epoxy resins.
The Northwest School of Wooden Boatbuilding in Port Hadlock launched on June 14, three classic Whitehalls built for the British Broadcasting Corporation. The BBC used the boats in August 2013 to recreate John Wesley Powell’s 1869 exploration of the Colorado River through the Grand Canyon.
After an extensive restoration by the Lewis family in Florida, the steamboat tender BARBASHELA returned to the Gulf Coast waters October 17, 2016. She was designed in the late 1870s by Captain T. P. Leathers of the steamboat NATCHEZ, and gifted to MS.
Bill Walker built this semi-vee skiff starting in fall of 2014 and launching in May of 2016. After building nine other stitch and glue boats, Bill designed and built this skiff himself. It is constructed of meranti Bs-1088 plywood with select pine trim.
