The accommodation of this design has been laid out to suit two couples. The Roberts 470 makes a fine long distance cruising yacht.
This schooner is intended as a comfortable cruising yacht for a couple with occasional guests, and to be of simple construction so that Jack everyman can build it. It has a twin keel / centreline rudder configuration.
Speed, good looks, and comfortable seating were the designer's main criteria for this double-ended centerboard daysailer.
