In July 2003, Rob Douwes launched his 17'6" Gentlemen's Runabout KNOCKABOUT on Lake Westeinder, Aalsmeer, in the Netherlands. The plans (#76 from WB), by Hacker and Zimmer, call for a 16' hull, but Rob extended the boat's length by spreading the frames apart just a little bit.
Gus Hedden took twice as much time as he expected to build this 15′8″ x 4′5″ Stickleback Dory designed by Iain Oughtred.He salvaged the sail from a 25-year-old Bolger Gypsy design and the spars from small Sunfish style boat.
Matt Gillam and his father worked together for seven years to restore MS KEELY a 1958 Penn Yan Caribbean. They replaced her deck, nearly all of her oak frames, and repaired her gunwales. They also redid her entire interior and gave her a new finish all around.
This is a 2013 new-build, designed by James-Craft; The Black Sheep is a reproduction Chris-Craft Kit Boat, 1956 Zephyr Runabout. I spent about 600 hours building her over the course of 4 summers — about 10 hours per week June-August. This is my first boat build.
