Launchings

ST. JACQUES construction began on Christmas Eve 2013 and finished up May 2017. The boat was built by the Lewis family in Navarre, Florida. The strakes are okume plywood, keel is white oak and the seats, gunwales and spars are cypress.

Built of cold-molded cedar on laminated locust frames by David, Marie and Nathan at Skol ar Mor. ROBUSTUS is a reproduction of Francois Vivier’s MORBIC 8′. She was ordered by Guillaume Valente on the island of Groix off the Southern coast of Brittany in France.

Michel Roy and his sons built LOON together as a first boat building project. LOON is a Herb McLeod One-Sheet-Skiff (OSS) which we modified with inside chine logs. The hull is fir marine ply, and the bright bits were gotten out of various bits of vertical grain douglas fir.

I started designing her in June of 2008. I had to put her up each fall to work on Christmas presents among other projects, but launched her this past weekend.

Jeff Spira has news from Iceland. He writes, "Geir Gislason and August Hinriksson recently launched this new 11' stitch-and-glue skiff. It has 1/4" plywood frames and 1/4" plywood covering. The design is a Spira International Mission Bay plan, available from Spira International, Inc., P.O.

Terry Matthews of Mt. Vernon, WA, built not one but two boats for his granddaughter, Etta Cameron, who was  launched herself in April 2010.
