KIWI II is a development of New Zealander Richard Hartley’s Trailer Sailer 21 design. This boat was started as a retirement project by Kennith Tycer. Howard Berg purchased the unfinished boat in 1995 and with the permission of the designer added a bowsprit to improve its windward performance.
Using just materials from his local home improvement store, Robert B. Holt built this flat-bottomed, double-ended rowing boat to his own design. He used 5/16" tongue and groove western cedar paneling for the planking, and 1x3 strips for the frames and floors.
I built this kayak for my grandson, who loves to fish. So I built a fishing kayak, with retractable outriggers. The outriggers are stitch and glue, the kayak is plywood on frame.
PRISCILLA C is a small steam launch based on a Stuart Turner 5 A single cylinder engine of 2 1/4" bore and 2" stroke. It produces about 1/2 HP at 30 PSI from a water tube, wood fired boiler.
Bob Panning writes "This 12' skiff was built mostly by hand in my garage over 8 months of sporadic weekend labor. We named her CLARA, an acronym for our grandchildren - Caitlin, Leah, Ashley, R.W., and Anya. This was the most fascinating woodworking project I have ever attempted.

Students Sheldon Patterson, Ross Melhorn, and Andrew Dingledine built this Jon boat at Edgewood High School in Trenton, Ohio, under the instruction of Mark Schallip. They found plans for the 12′ x 4′ hull online and then modified those plans to create this design.
I built “Arrow” from a CLC kit, designing my own pattern for the deck and redesigning CLC’s combing. It took six months to build and the experience was very impactful. I fell in love with this boat before I ever launched her and kayaking is now a renewed pleasure!
