Weighing only 20 pounds, this "mini-canoe" was designed and built by Robert Van Orden. He writes that it cost just over $50 and took about 20 hours to build. He used a single sheet of 3/16" plywood for the planking and made the stems and ribs from pine. It is 7'8" long and 27" wide.
Tom Karsnia designed and built the EDNA BELLE during the summer of 2004. He writes that the boat floats and rides like a dream. It seems as light as a feather in the water. It is easy to maneuver and turns on a dime. It is made of 3/8" marine plywood and western red cedar coated with epoxy.

Phyxius is a kayak race boat. It is a CLC designed kit — West River 180. It is 4mm plywood built super light. I have over 250 miles of competition. John Harris got this design out of his obsolete files and retooled it for me. A very good boat for moderate distance racing.

Rene Burdahl of Innvik, Norway built a sailing canoe (listed here elsewhere) and a 14'9" Lowell Dory Skiff. Rune got the lines for both boats from John Gardner's book Building Classic Small Craft. The skiff uses Norway Pine planking, larch frames, seats, and knees.
