Customized Wee Lassie IIThe canoe was built in 2009. The overall dimensions are of the Wee Lassie scale with the modification made adding 1″ in height to the gunnel. Length 13′4″.The hull is made from Western Red Cedar in continuous strips (not scarf jointed from smaller pieces).

After taking Thom McLaughlin’s class on building pond yachts at the WoodenBoat School in 2009, John Stoudt spent the rest of that year into the early winter of 2010 working on this model.
Ed Vickery helped to build and repair boats for quite a while before he built his first wooden surfboard. He built it from several woods including bamboo, black walnut, fir, aframosa, and paulownia; then covered everyting with a layer of 4-oz fiberglass.
When Bill Short designed the San Francisco Pelican in the 1970s, he made it 12′ long; later he stretched it to 17′ long, and called that version the Great Pelican. Brooke Elgie of Tenakee Springs, Alaska, extended Short's design still farther, to 19′6″, what he calls the Great Alaskan Pelican.
Cedar strips canoe of the Gil Gilpatrick 16′ Laker design. Modifications to the design includes ash stem guards and scuppered inner gunwals. Hull materials include Western Red Cedar, Eastern White Cedar, and Alaskan Pine accent strips. Stems, gunwals, seats and yoke are ash.

Dr, Stephan Scott spent 8 months worth of weekends building PAULYNE, and Harry Bryan Daisy design. PAULYNE is a 12'6" dory/skiff with a beam of 4'2". He launched PAULYNE on May 31, 2003. Stephan plans to use her in Pirates Cove, Alabama and on Arnica Bay located on the ICW.
