Sinne 610
The Sinne 610 is an expedition rowing boat designed by Ruud Van Veelen and built by Walter Baron of Old Wharf Dory Co. This is the second boat built to these lines, and the first in North America. It is fully decked, with lots of covered storage.
SANTA MARIA
Captain Yo of Southwest Harbor, Maine, designed, built, and launched this sailing model of the SANTA MARIA in Blue Hill Bay in October, 2011. He writes that the carved cedar hull is 33″ long and weighs 25 lbs.
Lucky Dog
This is my Doug Hylan designed Point Comfort 18, built and launched in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. It’s glass over marine ply to the designer spec with numerous interior changes including solid inwales, a center console , and exotic hardwood fore deck.
WABNAKI
This was my first boat project and it took me 4 months to finish it. I used two types of wood: Abachi and iroko. I’ve cut 6mm thick strips and no cove & bead, every strip was beveled manually to match each other.
SCOUT
Matt Zarem used stitch-glue mahogany marine plywood to build this 16' sea kayak, SCOUT, which he launched in March of 2002. It is a CLC Chesapeake 16 design, with an overall length of 15'8" and beam of 231/4". Matt writes that it is an excellent boat for traveling around San Francisco Bay.
Nicky B
Nicky Bastidas, our exchange student from Ecuador, and I built this Solo Carry, based on Eric Schade’s design. (WoodenBoat 205 and 206), as a complement to a paddle I made her.
GRACE
GRACE is a Hvalsoe 13 I just completed and launched. It’s designed as a traditionally built lapstrake sail/row boat that I converted to glued lap. She has a sprit rig and had a successful first sail yesterday. There is a building thread about her on the Forum.
PROSPECTOR CANOE
Gerald Ely and his son, David, built this 16' x 35" Chestnut Prospector canoe. They built her using red and white cedar strips covered with 6 oz fiberglass cloth. The gunwales, seats, yoke and stems are of cherry.
ARCTIC TERN KAYAK
Bob Case built this Arctic Tern kayak from a Pygmy Boats kit. It is 14' long with a 23" beam. He added a little artwork on the foredeck, an Inuit representation of an Arctic tern, with red eyes on a white background. He writes that the boat was a joy to build and a joy to paddle.
